ani at last

At last Ani DiFranco played at The Church, or Babeville, whatever. Michelle and I were ready far in advance with tickets to both concert dates. The first night was probably better for me, set list and energy-wise - I was pretty happy to hear Shameless, Marrow, Swim, Little Plastic Castle, even if those are standards. But I did have the feeling that there were a lot of people there who didn't really know their shit about Ani. The second night the set list was a little more obscure, but it gave those of us that were there the night before some new stuff (the set list Michelle got from the stage is below). Schmarje came to the show too which was a huge plus; I got a beer spilled on me which was a minus. But all in all I was happy - even with a baby in tow, Ani looked and sounded like she did when I first saw her live years ago and that's great news.

labor day in detroit

For Labor Day, the car and I took our inaugural road trip to Michigan. First stop was East Lansing for Steph's wedding shower and bacholorette party. After that I went to Detroit to visit my uncle, cousins and their families for the holiday. We went swimming all day long in the community pool, had a barbeque and played with the kids until they ran out of steam. Afterward, Laurie and I drove back to Buffalo where the family had a clambake in the yard to finish off the weekend.

Since then I've been working hard, going to weddings and birthdays on the weekends. Enjoying the rest of the beautiful Indian summer. Becoming slightly obsessed with making pots of tea in the little Chinese teapot my boyfriend got me. The usual.
