decking the halls

Prepping for the holidays here with lots of decorating, food, music and parties. A couple weeks ago was my Christmas concert for the Orchard Park Symphony Orchestra, where we played the Nutcracker and a selection of holiday music. That sufficently kicked off the season for me. A few days later I got all my decorations in order, including the Christmas tree. I did most of my shopping and took the time to browse the stores on Elmwood, which is definitely more festive than going to mall if not totally productive. And this week I saw my brother's last Christmas play at St. Mark's, where he was Snoopy in A Charlie Brown Christmas. Looking forward to the office party and the numerous ones that will follow... Overall, its been a very merry season!

kuni's to go

Meet my new obsession: Kuni's To Go sushi, newly reopened on Lexington Ave.

A few days after the open Patrick and I tried Kuni's for lunch. The place was extra busy around the 12:00 hour and we waited an additional half an hour for our order. But the food was worth it! The rolls are expertly done, and stayed together which has always been a sushi pet peeve of mine. The nigiri pieces were to die for. $20 bucks feed two of us for lunch, and that's not bad.

birthday recovery

Thanks everyone who made it out Friday to help me celebrate my birthday. We had a cool gathering of people at the apartment for the festivities, which included out of town guests Martha and Meagan, Emily's awesome cake and antics in the wheelchair. After all was said and done I had a huge mess in the apartment the next morning and a 24th birthday hangover. Must have been a fun time.

Sunday I celebrated with my family with brunch at Left Bank which was lovely. Had the seafood benedict (eggs benedict over crab cakes) but everything on the table looked great. I've got to make a point to get there for brunch more often.
