elegantly not wasted

A series of alcohol related offenses plagued my weekend.

On Saturday night, I had some friends over to my apartment and we decided to go to the corner store at Lexington and Elmwood, Landes & Blackwell, and buy some beer. When I went to purchase mine, the cashier (who I've seen and talked to many times before) told me he needed my ID and the ID of everyone I had just walked in with. One by one we had to go to the counter and pull out IDs, and when one girl (a 23 year old) realized she didn't have her wallet I wasn't allowed to make my purchase. Of course we just got in the car and went down the street to buy it instead, at a place that didn't even bother to ID us, so that asshole cashier really proved his point.

You know, I'm 24 years old and as an adult I'm supposed to work, pay taxes, serve jury duty and all those other awesome adult responsibilties - why can't I buy a beer in peace without getting profiled for my percieved age and intentions by some dirty old man at a gas station?

On Sunday night I went to see The Tragically Hip with friends at Artpark. Artpark has recently banned tailgating entirely because the community of Lewiston wants to maintain the bland peacefulness of their dorky little town. I suppose they want to be a tourist destination, i.e. Niagara-on-the-lake, Mackinaw Island or some other quaint community that executes its quaint-ness 100 times better. Well the haven't succeeded in making Lewiston more worthy of visiting as a tourist, but they have made going to concerts at Artpark a lot worse! This is not an incredible venue to begin with but at least it was nice to sit outside in a pretty setting and drink. Well, so much for that!

i used to work with that "dirty old man" cashier at landes and blackwell. he once (while i worked there) yelled at me for going behind the counter (when i wasn't working) to make my own money order. he was busy, i thought i'd help him out by doing it myself -- guess not. he then started checking every single $20 to make sure it was real, for a money order for my rent which was over $500. i just told him he was an asshole and walked out with my money order leaving him to make sure my money wasn't fake.

he's a miserable retard who's worked there for almost 20 years and has no life. his biggest joy is carding younger people and hassling them and LOVES to hold people's money up to the light to make sure it's real.

he's out of his tree.
